This page has the rules of the Eddsworld Wiki. In addition to these, Fandom's Terms of Use also apply here. Rules for discussions can be found here.

Code of Conduct

Forbidden actions

Users who do any of these things may receive a warning (up to 3) and/or be blocked for a period of time, depending on the severity and on the moderator's moderation style. Warnings and blocks can be appealed; some ways are by providing an understandable reason or by giving an apology. Truly indefinite blocks are guaranteed after two 4-5+ year blocks have been given.

  • Uncivil behavior: Any sort of uncivil behavior, including bullying, flaming, or ignorance will not be tolerated.
  • Vandalism: Acts of vandalism, including intentionally adding false information to an article or posting distasteful material will not be tolerated.
  • Spam: Any sort of spamming, including excessive off-topic page creation or posting, frequently uploading files that break rules, or posting excessive unwanted comments on a user's message wall will not be tolerated.
  • Advertising: Using the wiki to advertise/self-promote, especially for anything commercial, is not allowed. Users may post links to their social media profiles on their user page only.

Posting

These rules mainly involve discussions posts, message wall posts, and article comments.

  • Do not bring off-wiki drama onto the wiki.
  • Posts with anything related to shipping will be removed.
  • Avoid contacting users who have not been active here in a long time. Checking a user's contributions and activity lists is usually a good indicator of whether or not they have been active here.
  • Posts may be locked after being inactive for around a month or more.
  • Users should avoid necroposting (ex: replying to comments over three months old).
  • Posts containing outdated information will be subject to deletion. This is to prevent necroposting, to keep those less informed from being confused, and to prevent certain subjects from getting too much unnecessary attention (Ex: the passing of Edd Gould, Tord Larsson's situation, questions about Eddsworld content that can be answered just by watching animations/videos/interviews or reading the comics/behind-the-scenes information). Some posts from bureaucrats will have comments disabled after a few months.
  • "They/them/their" pronouns will be considered valid equivalents to "he" or "she" pronouns because they are gender neutral and allow for more anonymity among users and non-users.
    • Avoid using gendered pronouns (he/she/him/her/etc.) to refer to other users unless they prefer those pronouns.

Manual of Style

  • Information on articles must be verifiable. Back up any information added with sources whenever necessary.
    • Sites like Wikipedia, iMDb, and Google should not be used since they are not reliable.
  • Official video uploads must be used as primary external links, but a re-upload may be used as a reference if the original videos were taken down or if the re-upload was taken from an SWF file.
  • Refrain from including speculation in articles.
  • Assume there is no real continuity between different animations unless a continuity is explicitly referred to (Ex: numbered sequels like the Zombeh Attack and Zanta Claws animations).
  • Avoid writing the same thing multiple times in different article sections.
  • Avoid creating "red" links.
  • Articles should be written in an objective manner.
    • Words such as "you" and "we" should be avoided.
  • Preferred time zones for time and date listings are UTC, London, and Eastern Time (EST/EDT, used by Newgrounds).
  • "They/them/their" pronouns will be considered valid equivalents to "he" or "she" pronouns because of their gender neutrality.
    • Avoid using gendered pronouns (he/she/him/her/etc.) to refer to real people and characters unless they are clearly identified as male or female.

Article acceptance

  • Articles about videos and animations will only be accepted if:
  • Articles about characters will only be accepted if:
    • The character has two or more appearances in official animations.
    • The character has an actual name - the name cannot be made up by fans. Types of actual names include a name mentioned in the credits of an animation or a name given to the character by one of the writers/directors of an animation.
  • Articles about real people will only be accepted if:
    • The person has worked with Edd Gould.
    • The person has worked on two or more pieces of Eddsworld content, and has a notable public profile.
  • Articles about websites will only be accepted if Edd Gould registered for it.
  • Information about comics is self-explanatory, so articles about specific comics would be redundant.

Categories and trivia

  • Only the first letter of a category should be capitalized (excluding "Eddsworld Legacy" categories - both "Eddsworld" and "Legacy" should be capitalized).
  • Don't add excessive categories to articles.
  • Integrate information into other sections of articles instead of keeping it in a trivia section whenever possible.

File uploads

Before uploading anything, take some time to read the following:

General rules
  • File names should not just be random strings of letters and numbers (Ex: "Watermelon" should be used instead of "yhvcyuhufkj687879898"). Double-check the file name before uploading.
    • Comic files should be titled in these styles: "ComicTitle" or "ComicNoTitle" (Ex: "ComicBlah" or "ComicNo007BlahBlah").
  • Make sure the file does not have any watermarks before uploading it.
  • File descriptions should include a link to its source. Files without a source may be deleted.
  • Files should typically be posted to a page or pages as soon as they're uploaded. Files that aren't posted to one in a timely manner may be deleted.
  • Files with fan content, off-topic content, or advertising/self-promotion may NOT be uploaded to the wiki.
  • Only PUBLICLY-AVAILABLE images of real people may be uploaded to the wiki.
    • Either a public image of a person or a profile icon they have created may be used as an infobox image.
  • Video screenshots must not closely resemble another screenshot. Screenshots that look similar to other screenshots, but have any sort of watermark or overlay (Ex: YouTube overlay), count as duplicates.
  • Screenshots of social media posts shouldn't be uploaded to the wiki - links to them are preferred.

User pages

  • User page bios must be appropriate.
  • Rules regarding file uploads apply, but you may embed images from Community Central onto your user page (as opposed to uploading them here) so long as the images are appropriate.
  • Rules regarding advertising and promotion apply.
  • Red links will be removed to prevent the "Wanted Pages" list from being cluttered.
  • User pages that were automatically created by a bot but not edited by their users may be deleted. If you are a returning user and your user page was deleted, you can recreate it or contact an admin and it will be restored.
  • User pages made by users who have disabled their accounts may be edited or deleted.

User rights

  • Users who meet the criteria below may be eligible for extra rights:
    • User account must be 21 days old.
    • User must have been active in the last 14 days.
    • User must have a history of good edits.
    • If the user has reported posts or comments, they must be for valid reasons.
    • User must not have a history of uncivil behavior towards other users.
  • Users being eligible for extra rights does not automatically mean they'll get them. Whether users get them is decided on a case-by-case basis.
  • Users who have been inactive for around two months may lose rights.
  • Anonymous users (IP addresses) may not edit the wiki due to frequent vandalism.
