Eddsworld refers to the online username and series of animations, comics, and games created by the late Edd Gould and maintained by his friends and family. Edd and his friends, like Matt Hargreaves, Tord Larsson and Thomas Ridgewell, would have animated counterparts of themselves appear in the various media Edd posted online. Edd's earliest-surviving creation was a short titled Edd, and it was uploaded to Newgrounds on June 6, 2003, the same day he registered. The name "Eddsworld" was inspired by the movie Wayne's World.

This page is the central hub of the "eras" of Eddsworld; the "classic" era is where everything Edd Gould created is, the "Legacy" era contains the stuff produced by Thomas Ridgewell following Edd's passing, and the "Beyond" era (the current era) contains content being made under the oversight of Matt Hargreaves.

Eras[]

Classic Eddsworld[]

The very first Eddsworld era, the "classic" era, began when Edd Gould started sharing content online. The earliest-surviving animation from this era is Edd (2003), though there were other animations shared before this one. This era lasted until Edd Gould passed away on March 25, 2012, during the making of Space Face. Space Face was finished by Paul ter Voorde, an animator and longtime friend of Edd's.

Eddsworld: Legacy[]

The second Eddsworld era, Eddsworld: Legacy, began after Thomas "TomSka" Ridgewell and Eddie Bowley took over Eddsworld duties from Edd Gould after Edd passed away; Edd did not want Eddsworld to end after his death. This era ended after TomSka handed control of Eddsworld to Edd's family following the release of The End (Part 2) and twenty additional comics.

Eddsworld Beyond[]

The third and current era, Eddsworld Beyond, began when Edd Gould's family and Matt Hargreaves[1] took over Eddsworld duties from TomSka. The first animation to come from this era was Fan Service 2.
